The “Invisible” Strain: Is your desk job winning?

Stop the “Slow Motion” Injury Before it Starts

When we think of back injuries, we often imagine a sudden slip on the ice or lifting a heavy box. But for many of our patients, the most “dangerous” thing they do all day is simply sitting.

If you spend 6–8 hours a day at a desk, you are experiencing Postural Fatigue.

When you sit, your lumbar spine (lower back) actually endures significantly more pressure than when you are standing. Over time, this leads to that nagging ache between your shoulder blades, “text neck,” and persistent lower back stiffness that makes you feel twice your age when you finally stand up.

3 Simple Ways to Fight Postural Fatigue Today

You don’t need a total office overhaul to start feeling better. Try these three adjustments tomorrow:

  • The 20/20 Rule: For every 20 minutes of sitting, stand up or stretch for at least 20 seconds. This “resets” the neurological patterns of your muscles and prevents them from locking into a slumped position.
  • The “Eye-Level” Check: Your monitor should be positioned so that your eyes naturally hit the top third of the screen. If you’re looking down at a laptop, your neck is supporting up to 60 lbs of “effective weight.” Use a laptop stand or a stack of books to bring it up!
  • The 90-90-90 Position: Aim to keep your elbows, hips, and knees all at 90-degree angles. Keep your feet flat on the floor—crossing your legs is a one-way ticket to pelvic misalignment and sciatica.

How We Help You “Undo” the Workday

Even with the best ergonomics, gravity eventually wins. With over 15 years of experience, our team specializes in reversing the physical toll of a sedentary workday. We focus on:

  • Cervical & Lumbar Traction: To gently decompress the discs that get “squished” during long hours of sitting.
  • Myofascial Release: To soothe the tight “knots” in your upper back and shoulders that cause tension headaches.
  • Targeted Adjustments: To ensure your spine is moving freely, preventing that “stuck” feeling.

Get Back to Feeling Like Yourself

The goal isn’t just to survive the work week—it’s to have enough energy and mobility to enjoy your life after 5:00 PM. Whether that’s hitting the gym, playing with your kids, or finally enjoying a hobby pain-free, we are here to help you get there.

Time for a Posture Reset?

If those daily aches are starting to feel “normal,” it’s time for a tune-up. Let’s get you back to moving—and feeling—your best.
